Cranio is also fantastic for men. One part of CST is the limb unwinding which allows for the release of tissue memories both physical and emotional. Limb unwinding is done after a couple of sessions where the client can let go of holding onto an arm or leg so the body can take over the process it requires to release the tension from the tissues. The job of the therapist is not to move or direct the pattern of unwinding but to follow the pattern the body is moving through while physically supporting the weight of the arm. Let me give you a case I have treated to better explain.
Male 38years old
Occupation: Plaster
Injured shoulder torn ligament
Post opp surgery 12 weeks
Client presenting depressed & anxious Post opp exercises & therapy attending weekly The shoulder is starting to freeze, this is the body's natural way of protecting itself. The client is able to lift their arm laterally out from the side of the body by 20 deg.
After a couple of treatments to settle the nervous system we began the process of limb unwinding to support the body to release the membrane restrictions and trauma held in the shoulder.
After the 2nd unwind the client has 50% movement in the shoulder After the 7th treatment, the client has 90 % movement in the shoulder. Unwinding supports the body to naturally release the soft tissue damage caused by the injury and surgery. Also, the emotional trauma can release in the case of this gentleman. What does this look like? Some clients won`t recognise the release others will experience emotions arising. this gentleman found himself one min laughing and the next tears but was not feeling sad as the tissue memory released without the symptoms of the feelings.
